Enough is enough, you sexist Lord of the Rings fans.
The latest episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power finally puts to rest the toxicity that has surrounded the fan base since the show began. In the opening moments of the show, Galadriel at long last steps out and corrects the audience on the sexist dribble they’ve been posting online.
“I know many people accuse my character of being a Mary Sue,” the 1,500-year-old Elf queen said in full battle armor. “Yet, a Mary Sue refers to a female writer’s self-insertion into a story as a form of wish-fulfillment. She’s unrealistically and unexplainably perfect in every aspect, adored by all other characters, skilled in combat and intelligence, bending the story, dialogue, and world-building towards herself automatically and without merit.”
She paused momentarily to slay a dragon using the butter knife from her mess kit.
The immortal general continued, “However, I am clearly NOT a Mary Sue under this definition. For one, I am most certainly written by a man.” The future Lady of the Wood gave a scowl before going on. “Additionally, a Mary Sue is technically only applicable to fan-fiction writings, and I’m syndicated by a major studio.” Galadriel pulled out her sword and threw it randomly into the air, taking down another dragon before resuming her monologue.
“If you even THINK I’m a Mary Sue, you are clearly labeling me with that derogatory term simply because you are scared of a strong female lead.” The people of Númenor immediately gave her a medal for her bravery.
